On March 11, Dazhong Daily published an article titled “Rizhao Private Enterprise Leads New Track in Battery Industry with Innovation—Battery ‘Little Giant’ Takes the Lead in Setting Industry Standards,” reporting on Shandong Cane Energy Power Technology Co., Ltd., located in Gaozhe Street, Wulian County. Adhering to the concept of “innovation-driven development,” the company has adopted cutting-edge materials such as nanomaterials and graphene, invented new preparation methods, and successfully been recognized as a national-level specialized and new “Little Giant” enterprise.

Meanwhile, the newspaper also published an article titled “Wulian Optimizes Allocation of Educational Resources to Promote High-Quality Development of Preschool Education,” noting that to further optimize the allocation of educational resources and meet the public’s demand for high-quality preschool education, Wulian has newly established two public kindergartens, injecting new vitality into local preschool education.

Rizhao Private Enterprise Leads New Track in Battery Industry with Innovation—Battery ‘Little Giant’ Takes the Lead in Setting Industry Standards

A private battery company located deep in the mountains of Wulian County, Rizhao City, has not only been selected as a national-level specialized and new key “Little Giant” enterprise through continuous innovation but has also taken the lead in drafting industry standards for lead-lithium batteries.

In early spring, a reporter visited the battery plate production workshop of Shandong Cane Energy Power Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Cane Energy”) in Gaozhe Street, Wulian County. The roar of machinery was incessant as workers busily fulfilled orders. A fully automatic inversion line was operating efficiently, handling everything from cast welding to inversion, bottom gluing, color gluing, and final product output—a seamless process.

“This is the continuous casting and continuous rolling project for lead-acid batteries that we invested over 30 million yuan in last year. It has increased production capacity by 50% and saved more than 60% in labor, achieving cost reduction and efficiency improvement,” said Feng Wei, Deputy General Manager of the company, with evident pride.

Cane Energy’s high-energy lead-lithium batteries, with their exceptional longevity, ultra-low temperature resistance, and extended range, have quickly gained market favor. Currently, the company produces 1.2 million batteries annually, with sales revenue exceeding 220 million yuan. Feng Wei expressed confidence in the company’s future, citing continuous improvements in product quality and steady sales growth driven by new technologies.

At the technology R&D center, Xia Bode, Technical Director of Cane Energy, was discussing the latest battery performance data with his team. “Charging speed has increased by 60%, service life by 50%, and charge-discharge conversion efficiency has reached 96%… This is our self-developed high-energy lead-lithium battery, which took three years of technicaltechnical development to launch,” Xia introduced. This product, utilizing dual-conductive crystal lithium material technology, epitomizes the company’s innovation-driven development.

Adhering to the concept of “innovation-driven development,” Cane Energy invests over 6% of its annual sales revenue in R&D. Feng Qiping, Production Director, added, “We use cutting-edge materials like nanomaterials and graphene to invent new preparation methods. By finely controlling parameters, we have improved the plate grid structure and reduced battery weight. These innovations save the company over 280 tons of raw materials and 4 million yuan in costs annually.” Since its inception, the company has obtained 32 patents, including those for nano-colloid batteries and low-temperature resistant batteries, and has been recognized as a national-level specialized and new key “Little Giant” enterprise.

From initial new energy power batteries to current intelligent energy storage batteries, Cane Energy now offers 12 categories, 33 series, and over 400 specifications of products, widely used in electric vehicles, communication base stations, and other industries.

Industry-academia-research cooperation is a crucial path for Cane Energy’s innovation breakthroughs. The company collaborates closely with Tsinghua University, Shenyang Storage Battery Research Institute, and Wuhan University of Technology, and has flexibly introduced three doctoral teams, including Professor Zhu Chengfei from Nanjing Tech University, cultivating over 30 high-level R&D personnel. Through such deep cooperation, the company has developed more than 50 new technologies, such as “lightweight high-energy storage batteries,” and successfully industrialized them. Meanwhile, the company encourages internal innovation, with teams completing over 100 “five small” innovation projects annually, generating more than 5 million yuan in economic benefits.

In green manufacturing, Cane Energy also leads the way. “The company combines new energy technology with green environmental protection concepts, launching a series of solutions for distributed energy storage, contributing to energy conservation and emission reduction,” Xia Bode introduced. In 2024, the company was selected as a provincial-level green manufacturing unit and has received honors such as “Shandong Gazelle Enterprise” and “National High-Tech Enterprise.” It also took the lead in drafting industry standards for lead-lithium batteries, which helps improve product quality and safety, drive industry technological progress, enhance competitiveness, and promote environmental protection and sustainable development.

Looking ahead, Cane Energy will continue to be driven by innovation, comprehensively enhancing product productivity and competitiveness. “This year, we will continue to strengthen the upgrading of technical equipment, deepen industry-academia-research cooperation with universities and institutes, and while doing well in existing mainstream products, actively develop new high-life, low-temperature resistant lead-lithium batteries,” Xia Bode said confidently.
